As I was growing up in Taiwan, I had a strong connection with Oolong tea. While I was living in Taiwan, many people around me were drinking tea – it was part of daily life. My upbringing and exposure to some of the best Oolongs in the world naturally immersed me into tea-culture, and firmly entrenched tea drinking into my life. As an example, in Taiwan I would be offered a good cup of tea while waiting for my car to be fixed at the auto mechanic.
This year, I finally arrived in my home country in April & May, Taiwan Formosa, which provides Teance with many great oolongs and some special white and red/black teas. My last visit was in the summer of 2019 right before the pandemic. We are glad that our Taiwan farmers have continued to provide teas for Teance during this time!
After this intense trip, I have so many stories and photos to share. I feel it is time to do so. I picked unroasted Oolongs; it feels more connected with the land of tea growing. The aroma of unroasted oolong reminds me the fresh picked tea-leaves, the leaves that just enter into the wither room, oxidization room, shaping & drying room.
Whether you are a novice with tea or a well-seasoned tea lover, I invite you to join me to revisit my 2023 spring Taiwan Trip at our unique tea bar. Come to enjoy the aromas and sounds of tea pouring, and mingle over your tea experiences with other tea lovers. And, of course, to taste tea!
Here are the teas that we will savor while breezing through Taiwan farms with some stories and photos.
