We will prepare 3 to 4 teas as you learn more about each tea, their farmers, producers, the mountains where the trees and bushes grew, and the different processes that made these delicate leaves into various types of tea. With each sip, you may discover a new flavor, transform your palate, or even uncover a new sensibility within you. You will also be given the opportunity for some hands-on experience brewing teas. It is a great time to meet other tea enthusiasts while mingling and sharing your tea experiences.
Tasting list:
THESE 2 black teas, Ruby 18 and Yunnan Gold, are of different regions and different varietal, but they both carry high notes of spices and edgy sensations, with colorful flavors that last through many steepings. I like to serve them after dinner parties as the caffeine keeps the conversations lively while the flavors bring out the fun in tasting.
Ruby 18 Sun Moon Lake - Nantou, Taiwan
A modern cultivar, Ruby 18 Sun Moon Lake from Taiwan is a cross between Taiwanese indigenous tea plant and Assam original, resulting in complex flavors that exudes the fragrance of hinoki wood.
vs.
Yunnan Gold - Yunnan, China
Fermented in piles for 40 days during processing, this black tea is like no other. With golden tips, tones of caramelized honey, and a thick peppery earthiness, it is enjoyable without cream and sugar.
