We will prepare 3 to 4 teas for you as you learn more about each tea, its farmers, producers, the mountains where the trees and bushes grew, and the different processes that made these delicate leaves into various types of tea. With each sip of tea, you may uncover a new flavor, transform your palate, or even discover a new sensibility within you. You will also be given the opportunity for some hands-on experience brewing teas. It is a great time to meet other tea enthusiasts, mingling and share your tea experiences.
While Hong Cha are categorized as black tea in western cultures, they are called red tea in Asia. Hong Cha 紅茶 (hóngchá) means red tea in Chinese. In many Asian cultures, red is an essential good luck color. As the Lunar New Year approaches, many like to usher in good luck by wearing red, decorating homes and businesses with red, and of course, drinking red tea. So for this monthly tasting, we will compare a variety of red teas, and bring you good luck in the New Year, 2023.
