Origin – The Story Behind the Name
White Prakash is named in honor of Deepak Prakash Baskota, a pioneer in Nepalese tea cultivation. He established Phidim’s first tea garden in 1984 and later founded Kanchanjangha Tea Estate, where this exceptional organic white tea is crafted. Crafted with care, this award-winning tea offers delicate buttercream, vanilla, and floral notes, making it a favorite year-round—whether hot or cold-brewed.
Production Details
Unlike typical delicate white teas, White Prakash undergoes a unique processing method that sets it apart. Handpicked in spring and summer, its single leaf and bud receive careful handling.
After natural withering for several hours, the softened leaves are gently rolled under low to medium pressure, releasing their essential oils. In just 8 to 10 minutes, the air fills with a fresh, floral aroma, which is carefully preserved during drying. This distinctive process has even led some to call it "silvery oolong."
Who Will Love This Tea?
Fans of light Taiwanese oolongs or White Peony (Bai Mu Dan), this Nepalese white tea will captivate you. Its rich, layered flavors make it a great choice for those exploring delicate yet complex teas. A standout favorite, it earned a Bronze Medal at the 2019 Global Tea Championship and has won multiple awards worldwide.
