This dark roast version of the otherwise light, floral High Mountain oolong breathes an intense, fiery aroma, with deep, multilayered cooked caramel flavors drawn out by long roasting. Grown on the fog-dense peaks of Shan Lin Xi, one of the highest mountains in Nantou, Taiwan, the rich complexity of this oolong is supported by a unique, biodynamic farming environment of towering bamboo and gingko groves.
This dynamic oolong grows atop Shan Lin Xi, one of the highest mountains in the Nantou, Taiwan region. Fog-drenched peaks dense with groves of towering bamboo and gingko trees create a unique, biodynamic farming environment that supports the rich complexity of this tea. Careful, light roasting brings out its incredible powdered sugar sweetness, which gives way to a rich creaminess with deep body.
Tasting Notes (7/22/2021):
After a quick rinse, the pervasive aroma of roasted honey exudes from the leaves. The first steep gives a buttery, sweet woodsy aroma. The tea liquor offers a bright smokiness, rounded out by the essence of a honey mango. The deep sweetness of clover honey finishes the cup leaving the mouth feeling cool and refreshed.
