This sencha is cultivated in tea plantations uncovered by a sunshade . Tea leaves accumulate large amounts of catechins in the tea leaves when exposed to the sun, which adds to the various health benefits. The tea leaves are cultivated in tea plantations high above sea level both in Kyoto Prefecture and the neighboring Shiga Prefecture. Fragrant, sweet, and smooth, this tea is ideal for everyday use.
The Nishide Tea Factory has been managed by the same family for over 140 years. Currently it is managed by a husband and wife team, Takashi and Atsuko Nishide. The Nishide family buys aracha tea (unrefined leaves) from the tea farms of Kyoto and surrounding prefectures, and refines them further to craft high quality tea leaves that are uniform in color and shape, and of course excellent in flavor.
