Tieguanyin varietals offer the most complex layers of flavors, and depending on the artisan and technique, a wide range of aromas and tastes can be elicited. In this medium roast that was custom made for us, strong notes of roasted chestnuts, the kind that warms you in the winter, are the main showcase, but floral notes of jasmine and osmanthus flowers also permeate throughout. This is a rich, enjoyable oolong for beginners to aficionados alike.
