Single Origin, Farm Direct Teas
Zisha, or purple sand, teaware from the region of Yixing, is a unique clay whose complex minerality was found to greatly improve the steeping of tea, particularly darker and more oxidized, whole leaf teas. Unglazed teapots made from this sandy material can extract complex aromas and layers of flavors and strength from the tea, more than any other material can. Though there are different clay compositions, such as zhuni, duanni, and others, the ore at Yixing is rapidly depleting, and pure purple sand teapots like those found in this collection are rapidly becoming an anomaly. Collector's items, these pots are made to represent the artistry and whimsy of the artisan potters and often fetch high auction value.
