Grown in the high mountain regions of picturesque Yellow Mountain (Huang Shan) in An Hui, China, this is one of the top ten legendary teas of China. Yellow Mountain is known for its ‘sea of clouds’, that constant foggy condition that teas grow best in. Mao Feng green tea, literally meaning ‘Hair Peak’, is usually plucked when the buds are swollen from rain but still young and tender. Its shape has been compared to a bird’s tongue, and the liqueur is usually bright and clear, sweet and fresh on the palate. It is said that when Mao Feng is steeped, a cloud of mist gathers on top of the imaginary peak of the mountain above your cup. Handpicked only, generally more than 20,000 buds make up one pound of tea.
