The Gift of Tea
Tea has traditionally been a gift that pervaded throughout all aspects of life in Asia. Not only was tea a gift for the host, but part of a wedding dowry (called Cha Li), a gift symbolizing longevity for birthday celebrations, a tithe to the royalty and monarchs of China, and in Taiwan, gifts of tea between friends are usually a competition for good taste.
